HII-YAA!

Malia absolutely loves her big brother. She follows him everywhere and copies everything he does. Sometimes it drives Kael crazy and I can hear him yelling "Malia stop! Malia let go! Malia that's my stuff! MOOMMMM!"

Other times he thinks it's freaking hilarious and to hear my two monkeys laughing their heads off makes me feel all warm and squishy inside.

One of Kael's favorite shows on TV is the Backyardigans. It is about 5 friends who pretend play in their backyard and their play takes you everywhere: the search for the Yeti, Pirate Treasure, Race Around the World, etc. Depending on what he watches, Kael will take a piece of the show and bring it into everyday life. For example, we've built snow forts for a few weeks, we were superheroes, spies, part of a Polka Band, and went on a Mission to Mars.

The current Backyardigans idiom comes from the show "Samurai Pie" and Kael's got Malia doing it too. It is SO FUNNY.

Knowing what you know about samurais, can you guess what Kael's been saying and doing?

HII-YAA!
Complete with the hand chop and leg stance.

To see a 4 year old do it, it's pretty cute. But to see a 16 month old do a karate chop and yelling HII-YAA! is side-splitting.

Now I just have to make sure she doesn't see her big brother use the bathroom when it's time to potty train.
